LeoAFO Release notes | 07.29

Release Date: July 29, 2026

Overview

This release brings a completely redesigned Pressure Relief tool, now with landmark-anchored shapes, adjustable falloff and smoothing controls, and the ability to save your favorite shape combinations as reusable presets. We’ve also added vertex color support for PLY files, a safer Switch to Opposite Foot function that auto-backs up your design JSON, and a standalone Toe Box tool separated from the Channel tool. On top of that, ankle angle, length, and width measurements now show up right alongside circumferences in the measurement panel.

Key Features

Pressure or relief

The Pressure Relief tool has been completely redesigned.

In the initial view, users can either load a preset or add a new shape. Clicking Load opens a file browser dialog for importing a preset JSON file.

The Add New Shape dropdown contains all available predefined shapes. When a shape is selected, it is automatically placed on the foot model at its predefined position using its default parameters. Multiple shapes can be added consecutively, as the dropdown remains open until it is manually closed.

After adding a shape or loading a preset, the Save Preset button becomes active. This allows all currently listed shapes and their settings to be saved as a preset.

The shape list always contains one active item. The active shape is displayed with a red contour, while inactive shapes are shown in gray. By default, the first item or the most recently selected item is set as active.

The active shape can be configured by adjusting the height of all inner control points, the height of the selected inner control point, the slope controlling the falloff between the inner and outer points, and the outer smoothing option, which provides additional refinement of the outer boundary.

In addition to the predefined shapes, custom shapes can be created. Control points for the inner and outer boundaries can be added or removed independently, and individual shapes can be deleted.

Some shapes can be anchored to anatomical landmarks. For example, medial malleoli shapes can be anchored to the medial malleolus landmark. When creating a new shape, a landmark can be selected as an anchor, ensuring that the shape is automatically snapped to the correct position when a preset is loaded.

When the Apply button is clicked, all shapes are applied to the scan simultaneously. Once applied, the shapes can no longer be edited individually. This operation can only be reverted using the global Undo or Reset buttons.

Separate the Toe box tool from the Channel tool

The Toe box tool has been separated from the Channel tool and is now available as an independent mesh editing tool.

Show measurements options

Ankle angle, length, and width measurements can now be displayed on the right-hand measurement panel alongside circumferences.

Improved Switch to opposite foot function

The “Switch to opposite foot” function for paired AFO designs has been updated. When the button is clicked, a local backup of the design JSON file is automatically saved while parameters are transferred in the background.

PLY texture support

Vertex colors are now supported for PLY files. Models with fused vertex colors or embedded texture data can be imported directly without requiring a separate texture import step.

Fixes and Improvements

Positive model generation artifact

Visual artifacts that occasionally appeared during positive model generation have been fixed.

Texture disappears after applying channel, flared edges, or stirrup

Model textures are no longer lost when remeshing occurs during the use of the channel, flared edges, or stirrup tools.

Positive model mode unavailable for custom templates

An issue where project files loaded into 3D shell mode instead of positive mode and could not be switched back has been resolved.

Channel tool application changes orientation

Orientation shifts caused by landmark movement when applying the channel tool have been corrected.

We hope these enhancements prove valuable to your workflow. For any questions or feedback, please do not hesitate to contact your LeoShape representative, or fill out our contact form and we will get back to you shortly.
